The Rose Theater
The Client
With a mission to provide live
theater, dance and arts education to children and families,
the Rose Theater is home to two resident performing arts
companies—the
Omaha Theater Company and the Omaha Ballet Company. The
Omaha Theater Company is the third largest professional
children's theater in the nation, with programs that reach
more than 700,000 people each year.
The Challenge:
- Enhance web site image and functionality
- Complex site plan with myriad of audiences and users
- Design for in-house client updates
To replace an existing site designed in-house that didn’t
portray the national image of the Theater, Jelecos partnered
with a local graphic design firm to completely revamp the
client’s website within a tight time frame. The client
needed a multi-faceted website that serves numerous audiences
that include site guests, members, volunteers, donors,
ticket buyers and class participants. Along with making
a complex site user-friendly, the client also required
the ability to update changing content themselves on a
regular basis.

- From-scratch coding and site mapping
- Implemented user-friendly and artistic design
- Created web tools for updating content
Because of the dramatic transition in the client’s
site design and functions, Jelecos mapped the complicated
site from scratch and implemented a design that was both
eye-catching for Theater patrons and easy to navigate through
11 major sub-headings. Jelecos also created web tools that
allow the client to update content in-house in Active Server
Pages (ASP) format, and implemented processes for ticket
purchasing and membership registration.
The Results:
- Enhanced image and visibility
- Expanded traffic
- Increased ticket sales and member registrations
Probably most important to the client—a fixture
in the artistic community—the Theater has a website
it can be proud of, both in how it looks and how it works.
Rose officials also report greater usage of the website
for information, schedules, etc., online membership registrations
and increased ticket sales to its events.
